Damai International, a subsidiary of Alibaba Group, has expanded into recorded music with the launch of a new label, Original Creative Artists (ORCA), and a concurrent global talent search.

The label’s first signings are Audrey Lane, a member of the dance crew Jam Republic, and singer-songwriter DANY. The announcement on July 3 also introduced the All My Anecdotes Global Audition, a worldwide talent search run in partnership with South Korean agency All My Anecdotes. The audition is open to performers of any age, gender or nationality and will accept entries until August 3, serving as a pipeline for future ORCA projects.

Damai International is the overseas division of Hong Kong-listed Damai Entertainment, which already provides ticketing, event management, artist management, content production and venue services.

“This program represents an important step in our global talent development strategy,” said Walter Zheng, President of Damai International. “We aim to discover promising talent worldwide and provide them with the resources, training and opportunities they need to thrive. By leveraging Alibaba’s ecosystem and ORCA’s creative capabilities and extensive experience in developing international artists, we are building a platform that empowers talent to grow and pursue opportunities on the global stage.”
