AI music generation platform Suno has appointed two senior executives: Grace James, formerly of Atlantic Records, as Vice President and Head of Artist Marketing and Editorial, and Christian Bowne, previously at YouTube, as Head of Music Business Development.

The hires arrive while Suno remains in active copyright litigation with Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment. Warner Music Group settled its separate lawsuit with the company last year.

New Roles and Responsibilities

James will direct marketing for artists who use Suno, including those emerging from the company’s Spark incubator program. Bowne will shape licensing strategy and cultivate industry partnerships.

Executive Backgrounds

James most recently served as Executive Vice President of Creative Marketing at Atlantic Records, where she oversaw campaigns for Lizzo, FKA Twigs, Ed Sheeran, and others. She also held senior marketing positions at Roc Nation and Tidal.

Bowne was Head of Major Label Business Development at YouTube, focusing on licensing and the rollout of music products, including YouTube Shorts.

Statements from the New Hires

“I’ve spent nearly two decades helping navigate the evolution of digital music, and I’ve seen how the best technology partnerships create new opportunities for artists, fans and the industry. That’s what excites me about Suno. I’m looking forward to working closely with our partners to build products that expand what’s possible for creatives while creating long-term value for the music ecosystem.”

“I’ve seen firsthand the weight artists carry when creating and promoting their music. The expectations keep growing, while the number of resources and partners available to support them often doesn’t. I’ve spent my career helping artists break through, connect with audiences and build lasting careers. That’s why it was important to me to join a company that genuinely puts artists at the center. Suno is already working with artists at every stage, and I’m excited to expand the ways we support them, from helping them create and engage with fans to building sustainable careers.”
