DJ Zinhle has released a new self-titled EP, ZINHLE, an eight-track Afro-house collection that pairs the veteran South African producer with a roster of local dance music collaborators.
The project arrives on the heels of two singles, ‘Baba Yilwa’ and ‘Njengemali’, and marks a deliberate return to the sound that defined her early career. DJ Zinhle described the EP as a personal statement that balances her musical roots with her evolution as an artist.
“This project is deeply personal because it represents who I am at my core,” she said. “ZINHLE is about returning to the music that made people fall in love with my sound while embracing everything I’ve learned along the way. I wanted to create a body of work that feels joyful, uplifting and timeless, music that brings people together, whether they’re on a dancefloor, in the car, or celebrating life’s moments.”
The EP features contributions from DJ Lace, DJ Cliad, Funk Tone, Thobani White, Msindo’Listo, Nayvee Womculo and Nia Pearl. Its focus track, ‘Uthando’, pairs Thobani White and Nayvee Womculo, blending Afro-house rhythms with melodic production and lyrics centred on love and unity.
Prior to the EP, ‘Baba Yilwa’ spent 11 weeks on South African radio charts, accumulated 11 million streams across digital platforms, and its official music video surpassed 4.3 million views on YouTube.
With a career spanning nearly two decades, DJ Zinhle remains a central figure in South African dance music. The new project reinforces her commitment to Afro-house while spotlighting both established and emerging voices.
