Emmkay Muziq has released a new seven-track EP, Okuhle, marking a personal milestone that the South African DJ and producer says reflects his journey through struggle, faith, and gratitude.
Rooted in afro-house, the project pairs dancefloor-ready production with introspective storytelling. Emmkay Muziq describes the EP as a deeply personal work shaped by different stages of his life.

Collaborations That Carry the Message
Okuhle features contributions from Mr Vee Sholo, Zayzee, DJ Answer, P_Elle and Khayzino. Each collaborator was chosen for their genuine connection to the music rather than for commercial appeal, resulting in a cohesive project built on themes of hope and healing.
An Intentional Evolution in Sound
Emmkay Muziq says his production approach has matured significantly. Early in his career, he tried to emulate established afro-house artists before learning to trust his own creative instincts.
“My sound has become more intentional. I’ve learned how to balance powerful drums, melodic progressions, soulful vocals and atmospheric textures in a way that feels authentic to me. Afro-house gives me the freedom to express African rhythm while still experimenting with modern electronic influences.”
Patience and Persistence
Several tracks on Okuhle took years to complete. The first three songs were originally written in 2022 but underwent significant revisions before the final release. Emmkay Muziq says the biggest challenge was ensuring every track accurately represented who he is today, both as an artist and as a person.
He credits persistence as the defining factor in his journey from aspiring producer to recognised DJ, noting that consistency and a willingness to learn from setbacks matter more than chasing perfection. Building genuine relationships within the industry has also been central to his approach.
For Emmkay Muziq, the EP carries a message that extends beyond the dancefloor.
“For me, music has always been more than entertainment. It’s about healing, hope and connecting with people through real experiences. I want listeners to know that no matter where they are in life, their story is not over. Keep believing, keep pushing and celebrate every blessing that comes your way.”
