Fred again.. and Mexican R&B trio LATIN MAFIA have finished a new mixtape after a two-day studio session in Mexico City, sharing the entire creative process via a continuous livestream.
The collaborative project was announced shortly after the release of their tour film, under the fabric, on Sunday. The artists stated they would remain in the studio and keep the stream live until the mixtape was complete.
“been working on ideas for the last couple years on and off. It was mad how quickly everything we made felt like it was naturally part of the same world, like sometimes I find I have to really work hard to make things feel like a contained universe, but in this case everything that came out just naturally felt like one thing to us all. So we wanna put it all out as one project.”
The recording wrapped on Thursday, hours before Fred again.. and LATIN MAFIA performed a surprise set at Mexico City’s Palacio De Los Deportes. The trio had previously joined him on stage in Mexico last December during the USB002 tour, as documented in under the fabric.
A preview from the 10th hour of the livestream has been uploaded to YouTube. The clip shows Fred again.., LATIN MAFIA and KatzPascale reworking ‘Cmon’, a track from Fred again.. and Brian Eno‘s 2023 album Secret Life. No release date for the mixtape has been confirmed.
