Industry Appointments: UMPG Asia, Because Music, Warner Chappell, BMI, and More

Several key personnel changes have been announced across multiple music industry companies, including leadership appointments at UMPG Asia, Because Music, Warner Chappell, and BMI.

Industry Moves

Universal Music Publishing Group named Sunita Kaur as President, Asia. Based in Singapore, she will lead UMPG’s operations and songwriter development throughout the region. This appointment follows the departure of Andrew Jenkins, who held the Asia Pacific President position for nearly 20 years.

Pedro Winter, previously founder of Ed Banger Records, has been appointed Global Head of Creation and co-Managing Director of the French division at Because Music. This appointment builds on a 20-year relationship between the two labels, aiming to enhance artist development internationally.

Warner Chappell Music announced two regional appointments. Soraib el Jelali joined as Head of A&R for the Benelux region, having previously worked at Atlantic Records Benelux. Julian Franzoni was promoted to General Manager for Argentina and Uruguay, following ten years in A&R where he signed artists including Duki, Trueno, and CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso.

Youssou N’Dour has been appointed Vice-President of CISAC, the global creators’ rights organization. He joins a leadership team that includes Björn Ulvaeus as the organization observes its 100th anniversary and increases its advocacy related to artificial intelligence.

BMI promoted John Ellwood to VP, Creative. Deirdre Chadwick (Classical & Jazz), Jeff Gilligan (Creative Director), and Jodie Thomas (Corporate & Media Relations) were each appointed as Assistant VPs.

Girlilla Marketing promoted Lindsey Feinstein and Conley Sweeney to Senior Account Director, and Gigi Morrison to Creative Director. Esther Kuperus joined the company as Creative Coordinator.
