The deal includes all the music he co-wrote for the Scottish band
Seeker Music, the independent music publisher, record label, and rights management company led by hit songwriter Evan Bogart, has acquired the publishing catalog of songwriter, producer, bassist and keyboardist Simon Raymonde.
The deal includes Raymonde’s full body of work as a member of Cocteau Twins, including notable co-writes such as “Heaven or Las Vegas.”
Seeker Music says the deal achieves two “major tenets” of its strategy: the focus “on timeless music with potential to reach new fans in new ways,” and the company’s ongoing expansion into the UK and international markets.
Raymonde is also a solo artist and music industry executive who co-founded and leads UK indie label Bella Union (Beach House, Father John Misty etc).
Alongside his Cocteau Twins bandmates, he is a recipient of the Ivor Academy’s Visionary Award.
He has also served as Vice-Chairman of the Association of Independent Music, and has produced and mixed albums for artists such as The Czars, Fionn Regan and more.
Seeker says its portfolio encompasses more than $400 million in value and over 19,000 copyrights.
Recent catalog acquisitions include indie band The Wombats, R&B icon Mark Morrison, and production duo Future Cut (Lily Allen).
Steven Melrose, Seeker Music Chief Creative Officer: “Between the generational impact Simon already holds, and the global creative marketing we do at Seeker, we believe this new partnership makes the perfect pairing to further reverberate Simon’s musical influence the world over.”
