A waterfall release strategy is when an EP or album has the appearance of being released gradually, with one track added at a time until the full release is made available when the final track is added.
- This strategy can help artists build momentum and engagement with fans, and can be used to: Increase visibility
- Increase the chance of getting into editorial playlists
- Optimize Spotify's algorithm
- Avoid long periods without releasing music
- Boost streams for previously released songs.
To do this, you simply just need to upload the new single then select the previous single and add it to the track-list. See example of the track-lists below:
First Song
1) Single #1
Second Song
1) Single #2
2) Single #1
Third Song
1) Single #3
2) Single #2
3) Single #1
The title for each release would simply just be the title of whichever new song you're putting out. Note, please be sure that you're using the same ISRC for each of the previously released songs to ensure the streaming data links up!
