Ad-supported music app TREBEL has acquired Sesh, a platform that equips artists with tools to identify and deepen connections with their most engaged listeners. The deal brings Sesh’s fan-activation capabilities to TREBEL’s free, licensed music service.
TREBEL offers users offline and on-demand access to a catalog of more than 100 million tracks from all major labels and leading distributors, supported by a gamified rewards model. The company states its audience spans millions of listeners across the United States and Latin America.
Sesh’s technology includes a customer relationship management system that lets artists own fan data such as email addresses, locations and birth dates. It also enables direct engagement through a digital Member Card stored in fans’ phone wallets. TREBEL said the acquisition fills a gap in its artist services offering.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
“Five years ago we founded Sesh with a clear thesis: the future of the music business is direct, owned relationships between artists and their fans,” said Pepe del Río, Co-Founder and CEO of Sesh. “TREBEL has built one of the most differentiated music platforms in the Americas: massive audience, deep relationships with the major labels, and a business model that grows the pie for rights holders instead of fighting over it. They built the audience. We built the artist layer.”
