Seeker Music has acquired the original recordings and re-recorded versions of JoJo’s first two albums, JoJo and The High Road. The partnership brings both versions under one company, with an anniversary edition and further releases planned.
The music rights, publishing and record company was founded by songwriter Evan Bogart and is backed by M&G Investments. JoJo, also known as Joanna Levesque, is a multi-platinum recording artist.
Anniversary and archival releases
The partnership will open with Seeker’s release of a deluxe 20th anniversary edition of The High Road, pairing the original album with bonus tracks. The 2018 re-recordings of both albums will be renamed the Clover Room Editions.
Seeker is also preparing archival music and visual releases drawn from JoJo’s discography. A new single built around her music is in development with an unnamed collaborator described by the company as “one of today’s leading electronic music acts.”
JoJo’s The High Road – 20 Years Unplugged tour will begin on November 13.
Existing songwriting connections
Seeker already holds publishing interests in two of JoJo’s songs through earlier catalog acquisitions:
- “Too Little Too Late”, through RuthAnne Cunningham’s publishing catalog.
- “Leave (Get Out)”, through Soulshock & Karlin’s catalog via Notting Hill Music.
JoJo was 13 when “Leave (Get Out)” was released, becoming the youngest female solo artist to reach No. 1 on the Top 40 chart. She and Bogart have also written together previously.
JoJo on bringing the recordings together
Seeker said its plans aim to recognize JoJo’s work, support revisiting and experimenting with the recordings, and introduce the music to a new generation.
JoJo said the acquisition discussions prompted her interest, which grew as she learned about Seeker’s approach and Bogart’s involvement.
“It feels full-circle to have both versions of these albums together with a team committed to finding new ways to amplify it.”
