Nigerian Afrobeats artist Asake has released a concert film exclusively on Spotify, capturing his first live performance of the album M$NEY at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The release marks Spotify’s first full-length live album performance film and the first time an Afrobeats artist has headlined the historic venue.
Event and Film Details
The one-night event, held under a black-tie dress code, drew nearly 2,000 invited guests. The performance featured a live orchestra, a 40-member choir, and the live band The Compozers, and included four previously unreleased tracks. The film, titled Asake – M$NEY Live in London (Spotify Live), is accompanied by an audio-only live album, both exclusive to Spotify at launch.
Spotify’s Live Film Series
The film joins a growing catalog of live performance films on Spotify, which includes projects from Bad Bunny (Tokyo), Olivia Rodrigo (Barcelona), and Skye Newman (London). Spotify also hosted a premiere screening at its recently opened Listening Lounge in central London.
Artist Commentary
“This performance was a reflection of everything M$NEY represents: gratitude, growth, my spiritual and creative journey all in one. Everything flows from a place of gratitude to God and every moment that’s shaped me, and I hope that comes through.”
Asake added: “M$NEY was always meant to travel, when you feel good music, you feel it in your chest. That’s what I wanted this album to be. Something that crosses every border.” He said he plans to tour the album later this year, describing the London show as an opportunity to surprise fans and share the project with a global audience.
Album Performance
M$NEY, released in May, blends Asake’s melodic style with Afrobeats rhythms and explores themes of prosperity, spirituality, gratitude, and ambition. The album topped streaming charts in more than 19 countries, including Nigeria, and reached No. 8 in the US.
