A musician who works with artists through Artist Expansion says time between releases can be filled with career planning and creative work, even when little is visible publicly. In 2026, they are writing and recording a four-hour musical project while developing their work as an artist, content creator, coach and entrepreneur.
That work includes updating websites and artist biographies, reviewing social media plans, exploring business opportunities and maintaining professional relationships. The musician says these tasks can be overlooked during release and promotional campaigns.
They have reduced their own social media activity in 2026, concentrating on their website, Instagram and YouTube. They also point out that listeners can discover an artist through older recordings, performances, playlists or recommendations, regardless of when the artist last released new music.
Time away from work has shaped two of their projects. During an April 2024 cruise with their wife, the musician developed the concept for Heart of the Holidays, a holiday album they had considered for years. Released in 2025, it became one of the most successful albums of their career, by their account.
During another break, they began organizing lessons from decades of making music and working with other artists. Those notes became an early draft of 10 Laws of a Successful Music Career.
