Primary Wave Music has entered a partnership with Foreigner founder Mick Jones, acquiring interests in his song catalog, master recordings, the band’s name, image, and likeness rights, and a stake in touring income.

Deal Terms

The partnership covers Jones’s publishing and recorded music catalogs, as well as Foreigner’s name, image, and likeness rights and a share of touring revenue. Primary Wave will provide access to its marketing and publishing infrastructure, with plans to pursue new branding, digital, sync, and film and television projects.

Among the compositions included are:

  • “Cold as Ice”
  • “Juke Box Hero”
  • “I Want to Know What Love Is”
  • “Waiting for a Girl Like You”

Foreigner’s Commercial Legacy

Foreigner has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide and placed 16 songs in the Top 30 of the Billboard Hot 100.

Primary Wave’s Expansion

The partnership follows a series of recent moves by Primary Wave. Earlier this week, the company struck a deal with Jesus Jones’ Mike Edwards. Since May, it has also partnered with Intocable, Aubrey “Po” Powell, Pete Townshend, and the Estate of Donna Summer. The firm’s acquisition of Kobalt closed this week.

Artist Statement

“Larry Mestel has created a unique company that focuses on heritage artists and develops them with incredible success. I am personally thrilled that he and his team of professionals will be working alongside my long-term friends and managers, Phil Carson and Stewart Young, to build upon the awareness of Foreigner and our songs. Over twenty years ago, I reformed the band with the finest musicians I could find. This year, we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 1977 New York founding with a live album and movie that features original members Lou Gramm and Al Greenwood joining Foreigner for a magnificent concert on Ellis Island. I can’t think of a better home for this and Foreigner’s future than Primary Wave.”
