SoundCloud has selected RepostExchange as its first official community promotion partner, a move that gives independent artists on the platform a human-driven alternative to algorithmic discovery.
The partnership, exclusive to SoundCloud artists, combines the streaming service’s global reach with RepostExchange’s peer-to-peer network. The companies said the collaboration complements SoundCloud’s existing discovery tools by enabling human-to-human amplification of music.
RepostExchange, a free-to-use platform with more than 500,000 registered artists, labels, and SoundCloud channels, operates on a credit-based system:
- Artists repost tracks to their SoundCloud followers, generating up to 30 million daily impressions, according to the company.
- Creators earn credits by engaging with other users’ music, offering feedback, and sharing tracks they enjoy.
- Credits can then be spent to promote the creator’s own music across the RepostExchange community and the wider SoundCloud ecosystem.
As part of the deal, RepostExchange will gain access to SoundCloud’s Partner API, allowing it to build deeper integrations and more powerful tools. Joint initiatives, including co-hosted remix competitions and content features, are planned to broaden artists’ exposure.
Jordan Pettinato, Senior Director of Business Development at SoundCloud, said: “By combining SoundCloud’s global reach and discovery ecosystem with RepostExchange’s trusted, peer-to-peer network, we’re giving independent SoundCloud artists new ways to connect, collaborate, and amplify their music through real community support. This partnership solidifies our shared commitment to supporting creators in building meaningful audiences and sustainable momentum at every stage of their careers.”
