Morello said the festival is celebrating “FREEDOM! JUSTICE! EQUALITY! & ROCK N ROLL!”
Tom Morello, founding guitarist for Rage Against the Machine and a longtime political activist, has announced a new music festival called Power to the People Festival. This event will feature a lineup of rock heavy hitters, including Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez, and Jack Black.
The event takes place on October 3, 2026, at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland.
The venue is roughly 25 miles from the US capital of Washington, D.C.
Pre-sale registration is open now on the festival’s website.
Pre-sale begins this Friday, May 29, at 10 a.m. ET.
General sale begins Saturday, May 30, at 10 a.m. ET.
In addition to the music, the festival will host a “Freedom Village.”
Here, nonprofits and other community groups will share information on how to get involved with various mutual aid and civic engagement programs.
The participating organizations will be announced in the coming weeks.
A portion of all ticket sales and 100% of proceeds from VIP tickets will be donated to VoteRiders.
This organization works towards removing ID-related restrictions at ballot boxes.
Headcount will be at the festival, assisting attendees in registering to vote.
Morello to Variety: “The Power to the People festival is about freedom, justice, equality, and rock and roll. It’s about the power everyday human beings have when they come together through music, art, community, and action. We’re honored to bring this incredible lineup to the DC area for a day that celebrates the spirit of activism, creativity, and hope.”
