Content Policy
This page sets out what InterSpace Distribution accepts for delivery, what it rejects, and what happens when a release breaks the rules. It sits alongside the Distribution Agreement, the Anti-Fraud Policy and the AI-Generated Content Policy, and those documents prevail where they go further.
1. Who this applies to
Every artist, label, manager and sub-distributor submitting audio, video, artwork or metadata through InterSpace Distribution, on any plan including the free tier.
2. Ownership and rights
- You must own, or hold a valid licence for, every element of a release: the master recording, the composition, the artwork, the video and any sample, interpolation or featured performance.
- Cover songs require a mechanical licence before delivery. For downloads and physical copies our partner Easy Song provides one for $19.99 per song plus royalties. Interactive streams in the US are covered by the blanket licence administered by The MLC.
- Samples, interpolations and remixes of third-party recordings need written clearance from the rights holders. A compulsory licence does not cover them.
- Public domain works may be released, but the arrangement and recording must be your own.
- You keep your masters and your compositions. InterSpace takes only the non-exclusive licence needed to deliver and account for your music, as set out in the Distribution Agreement.
3. What we do not accept
- Recordings, lyrics or artwork you do not have the rights to, including unlicensed covers, samples, mash-ups, sound-alikes and re-uploads of other artists’ releases.
- DJ mixes, mixtapes and continuous sets in any form, including mixes built from licensed or your own recordings. Compilations of tracks you own the rights to are accepted as a release type on Artist Plus and Label.
- Releases that impersonate another artist, label or brand, use a real person’s name, likeness or voice without consent, or are attributed to an artist who did not take part.
- Voice clones of identifiable people without written consent, and releases generated by Suno or Udio, under the AI-Generated Content Policy.
- Content that is illegal in the territories it is delivered to, incites violence or hatred against a protected group, sexualises minors, or promotes terrorism.
- Spam, filler and stream-farming catalogues: near-identical tracks delivered in bulk, silent or white-noise tracks, tracks under 30 seconds released to game payouts, and keyword-stuffed titles.
- Anything that breaches the Anti-Fraud Policy, including releases promoted with artificial streaming, bought plays, bots or playlist-fraud services.
4. Metadata and artwork rules
- Titles carry no promotional text. “Official”, “Exclusive”, “New”, “Hot”, release dates and store names in a title are rejected.
- Artist names are the name the artist is credited under elsewhere. Featured artists, producers and writers are credited accurately. Do not add a well-known artist to a release they did not perform on.
- Artwork is 3000 × 3000 pixels, RGB, JPG or PNG, with no URLs, prices, social handles, store logos, QR codes or pornographic imagery. It must not reuse artwork from another release or artist.
- Explicit lyrics are marked explicit. Clean versions are marked clean and must actually be clean.
- Genre, language and country of recording are declared accurately. Since May 2026 every release also declares whether AI was used in the audio or the artwork.
- ISRCs and UPCs already assigned to a recording are reused, never regenerated, so charts and royalties follow the right recording.
5. Music videos
Only officially produced music videos are delivered. Videos must be original, professionally produced, free of on-screen promotional text, logos, slates and end cards, no longer than ten minutes, and encoded to the specification on the music video distribution page.
6. Review, rejection and appeals
- Every release is reviewed by our team before delivery. Most reviews complete within two days.
- If a release is rejected you receive the reason in the dashboard along with what to change. You can fix and resubmit at no extra cost.
- Where a breach is discovered after delivery we take the release down from the stores, freeze earnings attributable to it and, for serious or repeated breaches, close the account under the Distribution Agreement.
- Rights holders can file a claim through the copyright infringement form. Account holders can appeal a takedown by replying to the takedown email with evidence.
