Primary Wave Music has entered a partnership with the estate of soul singer Wilson Pickett, covering his music publishing catalog and a share of his name, image and likeness rights.
The catalog includes songs such as:
- “In the Midnight Hour”
- “Mustang Sally”
- “Land of a Thousand Dances”
Additional titles are also part of the agreement.
Deal scope
The estate will have access to Primary Wave’s marketing team and publishing infrastructure. Both parties will collaborate on marketing, branding, digital, sync, film and television projects.
Recent catalog activity
The Pickett agreement follows a June deal with the estate of Donna Summer and a July partnership with Foreigner co-founder Mick Jones.
Primary Wave’s portfolio also includes rights tied to Bob Marley, Prince, Whitney Houston, and James Brown.
“Promoting my brother’s incredible legacy has not just been a responsibility; it has been a labor of absolute love. Wilson poured his soul into every lyric, leaving us a musical inheritance that belongs to the world. Since his passing, it has been my sacred mission to ensure that his voice continues to echo for generations to come. I am profoundly grateful to partner with Primary Wave – stewards who truly understand the weight of his history and the timeless power of his sound. Together, we are keeping the Wicked Pickett’s fire burning bright.”
Max Pickett, Wilson Pickett’s brother, issued the statement.
